YEDA Center for Technical Communications was founded in 1993 by its current director, Dr. Mati Schwarcz, as Israel’s only training center for technical communicators. The center quickly achieved its two-fold goal:

  • Raising the professional level of technical communications writing and practices in the country.
  • Providing English speakers with the opportunity to retrain and find jobs as technical communicators in hi-tech companies.

Throughout the 90’s the school grew by leaps and bounds to keep pace with Israel’s burgeoning hi-tech industry. YEDA’s thorough training methods and sensitivity to the changing requirements of the industry firmly established its reputation. Today, graduates staff the technical communication departments of well known international companies such as Intel, Amdocs, ECI Telecom, Scitex, IBM, SAP, and others. Over the years, many graduates have moved into managerial positions.

YEDA’s training was early recognized by Israel’s Ministry of Labor and Welfare. Over the years, YEDA retrained hundreds of eligible academics for the ministry and placed them in hi-tech companies as technical writers and marcom writers. The exceptional success of this program led to YEDA taking an active part in the Jewish Agency's  Aliyah 2000 program which brought North American Olim to Israel.

YEDA International: Comprehensive Online Training

Today, YEDA's online training program includes graduates from the U.S. and Canada, as well as England, Russia, Finland, Norway, China, Africa, India, and Central Europe. Graduates find work quickly and work in well known companies ranging from Texas Instruments to AOL. Some graduates even teach technical writing in prestigious universities such as Temple University in Philadelphia.

In addition to training, YEDA both outsources technical writing and marcom services, as well as develops software solutions for Technical Communications. A Technical Communication software application  is expected to be released by the end of 2010  and will enable writers to work much faster and at a higher quality than is currently possible.
